Musician and performer Kit Major, the self-described “Dirty Misfit” of the West Coast underground, has announced the forthcoming release of her new EP, Miss Ego, due June 12th via Futureless.
Blending alt-pop sensibility with a grunge-punk edge, Major has built a reputation for high-intensity songwriting and bold hooks. Her sound, frequently compared to artists ranging from Iggy Pop to Amyl & The Sniffers, channels the spirit of classic punk while maintaining a modern immediacy. Critics have noted her throwback aesthetic and rebellious energy, drawing parallels to earlier eras when guitar-driven rock dominated club stages and airwaves alike.

To introduce the new release, Major has issued the lead single, “Not As Witty As I Used To Be,” available now. The song is a brisk, high-voltage anthem, marked by sharp guitars and an unapologetic tone. Major describes the track as playful and slightly unhinged, preferring, she says, to “spill secrets shouting over guitars than in silence.”
The accompanying music video represents a milestone for the artist, marking her directorial and editing debut. Styling for the production was assisted by North Hollywood vintage boutique Yes Baby! Vintage.
Miss Ego takes its name from a lyric concept that emerged during a bout of writer’s block, built around the phrase “there’s no room in bed for Miss Ego.” From that foundation, Major shaped an EP examining identity, femininity, and the space afforded to women in music, relationships, and public life.
The project aims to capture the atmosphere of a Kit Major live performance—platform boots striking the stage, lyrics meant to be shouted from car windows and echoed back from crowds. Miss Ego arrives June 12th, with “Not As Witty As I Used To Be” available now via Futureless.
