JOYCE MANOR UNVEIL NEW SINGLE, UPCOMING ALBUM & 2026 HEADLINE TOUR

Joyce Manor have released a new single, “I Know Where Mark Chen Lives,” the opening track from their forthcoming album I Used To Go To This Bar, due out January 30 via Epitaph Records. The song arrives alongside a black-and-white performance video directed by Jason Link and Rowan Daly.

Frontman Barry Johnson said the song takes its name from Mark Chen, a singer-songwriter known for his work with the bands Summer Vacation and Winter Break. Johnson described the track as stemming from a conversation between himself and bandmate Chase Knobbe, reflecting on the early days of legal cannabis clubs in California. He said the lyrics grew out of dark humor and surreal imagery tied to that era, which he likened to “the Wild West,” blending absurdity with menace.

Produced by Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion and Epitaph Records, I Used To Go To This Bar marks Joyce Manor’s first full-length since 2023’s 40 oz. to Fresno. The Torrance trio of Johnson, Knobbe, and Matt Ebert recorded the album beginning in early 2023, after Gurewitz heard an early mix of the band’s first single, “All My Friends Are So Depressed,” and agreed to take on production duties. Gurewitz said he sought to keep the sessions fast-moving and creatively focused, while Johnson credited the producer with helping the band shape a record they could place alongside the classic punk albums that influenced them.

The new album situates Joyce Manor within a lineage that draws from the urgency of AFI, the melodic instincts of Weezer, and the emotional weight of The Smiths, while continuing the band’s tradition of concise, high-impact songwriting. The record features mixing by Tony Hoffer, contributions from engineer Tom Lord-Alge on several tracks, and a rotating cast of drummers, including Jared Shavelson, David Hidalgo Jr. of Social Distortion, and Joey Waronker.

I Used To Go To This Bar follows 40 oz. to Fresno, which was praised by The New York Times as “a relentlessly tuneful 17-minute collection of all-killer, no-filler power-pop,” and by Pitchfork as “a loving, uncynical refinement of the band’s best.” Since that release, Joyce Manor have toured and collaborated with Weezer, made a television debut performing “Constant Headache” on Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, and celebrated the tenth anniversary of Never Hungover Again.

In support of the new album, Joyce Manor have announced a slate of 2026 headline tour dates across North America, including appearances at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. Select dates will feature support from Militarie Gun, Teen Mortgage, and Combat.
